This will be a brief post. I just wanted to note the difficulty of “pitching a product.” For me, Flocktracker is primarily a labor of love - I seek no monetary benefit from it. That said, it is necessary that I effectively convey what exactly Flocktracker is, both for the sake of those using the tool and, of course, for my own. Often, becoming tied up in the inner mechanics of how exactly the tool functions can cause one (myself) to lose sight of the greater picture.
Also, when working with others, such “scope” issues become increasingly difficult as each user has their own perception of what Flocktracker is or, more often, is becoming. A result of this is that I created a simple static page to organize my thoughts. For fun, I picked a random CSS framework to just “play” with. I somehow landed on Yahoo’s Pure.CSS which is truly awful. Humor and nonsense aside, I think such a site might at least provide some sort of point from which I can begin to craft a singular clear approach to the project.
Naturally, the downside to such an endeavor is that it took some of my already really limited time away from Flocktracker. Also, it’s probably going to become outdated and end up being a burden, just like the old MIT page now is. I suppose you can’t win them all.
